As much as I hate the way we are all tracked online…I love a Google Alert. Yesterday I received this one:

It’s hard to explain how seen I feel in this feature of our anthology. It never occurred to me that folks would remember my Feminists for Puerto Rico (FPR) efforts and tie them to the anthology and that all of this work would come to fruition in this political moment when Borikén is being remilitarized and occupied by US empire and feminists more broadly are paying attention to and resisting that imperialism largely in response to the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
When I saw this google alert and read the way Porque Estamos Aquí is featured by the lovely Karla Strand, I cried. I held my chest. I pulled out my stained and raggedy FPR t-shirt and said to myself: look, Jess of 2017, look what you’ve accomplished. I am proud of us.
Thank you, thank you, everyone who has supported us during this process. I am forever grateful.
